What kind of multicultural education is available to Edmonton’s Chinese community?

Edmonton has one of the largest Chinese Bilingual programs in Canada.

Edmonton's Chinese (Mandarin) Bilingual program gives students from all backgrounds the opportunity to learn one of the world's oldest and richest languages. The program has become the fastest growing public school second language program and has been called the “best Chinese language program outside of China” by Chinese Ministry of Education visiting officials.

The program teaches students from kindergarten to high school spoken and written Chinese (Mandarin) in a comprehensive program taught during regular school hours. Five elementary schools, four junior high schools, and three senior high schools offer the program in Edmonton.

Evening and weekend classes are also offered for students and adults by several educational institutions such as Edmonton Chinatown Multicultural Centre, Norwood Chinese Education Association and University of Alberta.
