People Can Live In Ice?

When I saw the snow, I remembered how we used to learn about the Inuit in my geography textbooks back in Cameroon. And I thought to myself, "So it’s really true. People can live in ice." Sometimes you feel like you’re dreaming.

To tell the truth, moving here in January was difficult, because I experienced Edmonton winter without knowing summer. But this year, I know it's going to pass. I can look forward to the many Edmonton activities in summer, but last year I didn't know it was going to change so dramatically.

It was tough. But then one month after I got here, I gave my first talk about life in West Cameroon in Leduc during reading week. You know, the pressure of lectures was too high, so I said, "I have to get out of the university and share with others and show them I can do something too." I talked and danced. I taught the students how to dance. Some people even took pictures - I keep one on my computer as my wallpaper. It was good, seeing the children dance. And also seeing that I can offer something to them. Because you cannot go somewhere interested in learning without also being ready to do something useful.
