Two-Wheeled Adventures

By Sarah Chan

Three summers ago I was lamenting the fact that I wasn’t taking an elaborate transcontinental vacation over the holidays. It occurred to me that Edmonton is really at its best during these short summer months and that I needed to find a way to capitalize on my enjoyment of the city instead of retreating from it annually.

Good cycling friends of mine suggested biking, but I hesitated at the thought of putting on spandex and special gear only to hunch over a pair of handlebars for extended periods of time. After shopping at a few local bike shops I found the right bicycle and it revolutionized the way I get around the city. My bicycle has given me a new lease on life in Edmonton now that I leave the car key at home when I go out to visit my favourite haunts.

I have lived in Edmonton all my life and seen numerous pictures of our great city but viewing the city from the seat of a "touring" bike gives it a whole new beauty. Awesome video clip and music.

I don't believe you should be able to enter this contest since it's is being conducted by the City of Edmonton. Your husband is a city counselor and by that should exclude you from entering this contest.

Great way to show Edmonton's beautiful streets. Love it. My wife rides this model bike (among others) - she loves it! (this is starting to look like a bike commercial... maybe the dress and the shoes should get a credit too?)

Delightful video presentation, and what a wonderful piece of music. Tell Bryce Kulak that his kindergarten teacher enjoyed the whimsical storyline in his song!

@Nik: Selecting the story winners by public vote means that Edmontonians make the decision. Our approach was to encourage as many story entries as possible. We're pleased with the number of entries as they illustrate the broad range of experiences and perspectives that are valued in Edmonton. Those individuals who are directly involved in the management and promotion of the website were excluded from the contest (see Rules and Regulations http://www.edmontonstories.ca/story-contest/edmontonstories%20contest%20rules%20and%20regulations.pdf).
