Edmonton's Labatt Blues Festival

Edmontonians love their blues music. Edmonton’s Labatt Blues Festival is Western Canada’s premier blues event. The festival takes place for 3 days every August in Hawrelak Park’s Heritage Amphitheatre. This stunning outdoor venue is home to other Edmonton events including the Freewill Shakespeare Festival, Symphony Under the Sky, and Heritage Festival.

Carrol Deen and Cam Hayden (in the video) have been producing and promoting the blues together since the mid ‘80s. Through Blues International they have presented the best local, regional, national and international blues talent. Grammy and Juno winners as well as Blues Music and Maples Blues Award winners have played at Edmonton’s Labatt Blues Festival.

More than 150 artists have appeared at the festival since 1999 including Dr. John, Ike Turner, Koko Taylor, Los Lobos, Delbert McClinton and Downchild.
