Happy Canada Day

By Trevor Stenson

I let my wonderful 4-year-old son stay up late to watch the Canada Day fireworks after getting him to nap from 6 to 9 p.m. It was a night we will never forget. The fellow Edmontonians were, of course, friendly and well-behaved. We could see the beautiful river valley, my son's daycare and my workplace all from the vantage point on the promenade atop the valley on the north side of the river valley near the 124 Street/High Street district. "Wow, wow, wow . . . Daddy it's cool!" are they key phrases from my son's first fireworks exhibition. It made me glad my son is growing up in such a great community and proud as an Edmontonian, Albertan, and Canadian.
