Optical Illusion

I love that my family can work together with our businesses, but that I get to have a separate life at night. During the day, I see clients and help them choose the perfect eyewear, and then at night I dance and fulfill my creative side. It's a completely different world. I just enjoy all of it.

My first paying job was dancing, and I recently started my own entertainment company. Building it from scratch is tough, but you know, there is a lot of room in Edmonton for something like that. There aren't many people who do it, and people are very open and looking for new things in the city. But with dancing, you'll always be looking for another job, another contract. It's difficult to make it a full-time job. I hope to eventually, but I also hope to own one of my family's optical stores in the near future. Having options is exciting, I think.

Right now, I have a permanent dance gig. We perform every week at Empire Ballroom, an entertainment club in West Edmonton Mall. We do Latin shows, we do hip-hop shows, we do impersonations - very Vegas. In fact, the owners often do go to Vegas and bring back the latest ideas. Anyway, the club’s huge. It's built for entertainers. We have acrobats and drummers and fire throwers...it's very cool.

The man who does all the production at the club gave me a disco ball. Actually, he gave me like 5 disco balls. I asked to borrow them for my new flyer, and he's like keep them. So now I have a whole bunch of disco balls to just enjoy. The one on the flyer is falling apart – you can't see it in the photo, but there are tons of things missing. I think the club goes through quite a few of them. I had some little ones too. We took some photos with those. They're so cute. Yeah, everybody needs a disco ball.

Brittany Reinbold

Brittany Reinbold is a classically trained dancer, but her real love is hip hop. She learned her hip hop moves in the living room in front of the TV, imitating Janet, Britney, and Michael. On most days, she can be found at Women with Vision, finding women the perfect pair (or 2) of glasses and sunglasses. Her entertainment company is called Sparkle Entertainment, and they do all sorts of things varying from event performances to party lessons and everything in between.
