Janelle Somerville, 13, on life
I want to get into finance and every time I say that to kids they’re always like, “Why would you want to do that?” But I do want to do finance for business. That’s my dream. I probably wouldn’t do it for a very small business or a very big business. More like one that’s successful but not like, you know, McDonald’s, which is really, really, really big. I would manage the money for the business and I would really like that.
I like it because it’s a yes or no answer, which is nice. It’s not like a social science where there is a yes, no or maybe so. There is yes and there is no. So that’s nice to have.
On dance
I do modern dance, jazz, and ballet. I only started modern this year and jazz the year before. I really like ballet. I find it quite interesting but I also really enjoy jazz because you move a lot and it works on your flexibility, which is really important for ballet.
On mountains
You’ve got the mountains right there. They’re good for hiking, good for skiing. They just give you a lot of opportunity for things to do, a place to go away that’s not too far so it’s easy to only go away for a weekend.
