Life on Jasper Ave
By Heather Cholach
I grew up in a small town north of Edmonton and in 2008 I moved to Edmonton on to Jasper Ave. Edmonton's Jasper Ave is my life! All the things on Jasper Ave I can assimilate to my life. I live and play on Jasper Ave!
When I moved to Edmonton I got a river view apartment on Jasper Ave where I can see the river and Jasper Ave. Living at this apartment has changed my life. I sit on my balcony and I watch cars go through the curves in the road when they leave Jasper Ave. To me, the curves and bumps on Jasper Ave describe all the changes in my life. It tells the story of how I left home, moved in with my boyfriend, started NAIT, met new people, and learned how to be an adult. The curve at the end of Jasper Ave helps me describe all the changes I am going through because there is always going to be a curve in the road of life.
Just off Jasper Ave, I drive down to the river to walk and exercise at Government House Park by the river. It is the most beautiful park which makes me feel content with myself and all of life’s problems after the walk. The walk by the river helps me get through every problem that is thrown at me. I feel my best when I am sitting there.
I love the downtown Farmer's Market just off of Jasper Ave! It has the healthiest food in Edmonton. I love venturing through the market for fresh organic produce. I love all the people there and all the new foods I get to try there too!
Jasper Ave is where my dreams live. I dream of being married at St. Joseph’s Basilica and having a beautiful reception/party after at the Fairmont. After I graduate from NAIT, I aspire to get a job at big corporate office downtown, where I want to have my dream job. And every so often I can go to my dream store, Holt Renfrew.
Jasper Ave means so much to me. It is where all the changes in my life took place, it where all my dreams lie, and it is where all the yummy organic produce is.
