Loving It
By Tracy Gabriel
The other day I was walking to work and a monk was walking by, I passed him a friendly smile and he stopped and blessed me.
I am relatively new to Edmonton, and I am absolutely loving it. I’ve seen things in this city that you don’t normally see in others.
For instance, the other day I was walking to work and a monk was walking by, I passed him a friendly smile and he stopped and blessed me. I offered him some money for doing so as that is usually what you do with monks when you are blessed but he told me a friendly smile is payment enough. Or the other day when a young man was sitting on the bus and he noticed an elderly man dropped his wallet, it would have been easy enough for the young man to just wait for the old man to get off the bus and grab his wallet as it seems no other people noticed including myself. He got up off his seat, kneeled down and grabbed the wallet from under the seat to give it back to the elderly man.
Another thing about Edmonton is there is never time enough to see everything. There is the Taste of Edmonton, haven’t been there yet but heard lots about it, Fort Edmonton, the zoo and so much more. It seems last year when I first moved here there was so much going on that it was a bit overwhelming. I love it so much.
You can go to one side of the city and it is pure city buildings but then you can go to the other side and it is parks and places for children and dogs to play freely.
I don’t know how else to describe Edmonton than a completely awesome place to live. I would never go back to where I came from.
