Match

By Melanie Braund

I found the love of my life in Edmonton in 2003. It was a rainy summer night. We had found each other on a popular dating web site. Match.com. Greg had just moved to the city from the country and was staying with his brother and wife in their basement until he got his feet on the ground. I was renting a basement suite in the west end of Edmonton. I found an advertisement in the newspaper for Match.com and figured I should just check it out since I was not finding Mr. Right in grocery stores. I set up a profile and chatted with a few guys, but nothing seemed to click. Then a guy by the name of "Firefighter looking for a hot fling" messaged me. It just happened that my profile name was "Firechick" because I was a welder by trade. We decided to meet at Moxie's near NAIT. It was love at first sight! We got married at Ellerslie Road Baptist Church in 2005 on a bridge that we welded together. In April of 2008 we had our first son and now we are expecting our second. Edmonton is where love is found.
