Sense of Wonder

By Amber Williams

I do not come from what anyone would call a well off family, and so the move was a little difficult.

Edmonton. When I hear the name I think of a thousand reasons people should love this city. I was not born here, but I moved when I was about 11 years old. I do not come from what anyone would call a "well off" family, and so the move was a little difficult. At first I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I had never been in such a large city for more than a visit. Needless to say, I didn't know how much Edmonton would enhance my life with my family. In the smaller town I am from, there is not a lot you can do as a mother and daughter team, but here in Edmonton, my mom and I found many things we could do that were of little to no cost. From things like the beautiful parks downtown, a stroll down Whyte Avenue, a trip to Fort Edmonton Park, to the most amazing summer festivals I have ever seen. Without this city, I don't know if my relationship with my mom would have been filled with so many amazing, fun, and unique memories. I am 21 now, and in a large part, I thank everything that Edmonton has to offer for helping me build and maintain such a strong bond with my mother. I think that anyone in this city is lucky to be able to enjoy some of the most beautiful outdoor activities. I cannot think of a better way to enjoy your family than to visit some of the attractions that Edmonton has to offer.

Thank you Edmonton!!!
