U of A Panda Bears
Meet Anneka Baker. Originally from Ottawa, Ontario she came to Edmonton to play on the University of Alberta’s Panda Bears women’s basketball team. In school, she majors in geography with a minor in international studies.
One of the biggest sellers for Anneka when picking the University of Alberta as her post-secondary institution, was when she first met the coaches. In her words, she says “I needed to know basketball was more than just basketball. It’s a lifestyle, a family, a social circle."
She describes being on a varsity team as “automatically thrown into a family atmosphere.” She describes the experience as “you become a unit – you struggle together, you work hard together, you accomplish things.”
